About Us
Hello! We are the lucky owners of Field House, in the beautiful Borrowdale Valley. We have such a breathtaking place, it just felt wrong to keep it all to ourselves. We hope that you love it as much as we do.
Close to Nature
We are lucky enough to own a naturally stunning place and are very aware of the fragile ecosystems around us.
To keep our carbon footprint as low as possible we try to buy local goods and employ local people as much as possible.
We provide environmentally friendly, plant based detergents and toiletries for you to use, to help protect our delicate aquatic habitats.
Please, don't drop litter and if you see someone else's, why not pick it up?
What are we doing?
Field House is an old farm with buildings that have been used for holiday rentals for over 85 years. Run down and empty since storm Desmond in 2015, it was looking very sad , so we rolled up our sleeves and started making it gorgeous again.
We take great pride in our work and sympathetically restoring these old stone buildings to their former glory (plus adding all the mod cons), is taking some time. We had the internet before mains water and central heating, but I don't think we will ever have a mobile phone signal! (Although Full Fibre is being put in this Autumn.) Eventually we will have the rest of it up to scratch and hope we can accommodate more new visitors, as well as the previous clientele, who keep coming back to reminisce with us about all the great times they've had here.
